Houston, 2nd transfer, 2nd week

Everyone!

This week was great like always!  We got some dinner appointments and taught some wonderful people who are ready for the gospel but need to make it more important in their lives.

My testimony of the Savior and God is always growing, by many added experiences where the Spirit is with us during lessons and we can really feel the undeniable witness of the divinity of Christ being testified by the Holy Ghost.

A grace of God came to us this week.  Last week a nice bike a member gave us got slightly wrecked by Elder Gardner, and this week, on a Thursday a member said Elder Gardner nice bikes back wheel was a little loose and he should not ride it until it was fixed, and so we had two really crappy bikes on Friday that we rode to the library and locked up (2pm in the afternoon on a main street that many people went by), we came out, and found, not our bikes, but the bike lock we had locked them with, cut clean though, and one helmet, the helmet i wore.  Unfortunately they took the other helmet that Elder Fultz was wearing that last Tuesday the new Elder, Elder Chrestensen had bought (he wore it one day, then it got stolen, sucks for him huh), but since the nice bikes were slightly damaged, we still have them. Now all we need is to fix them, and get a new bike lock and a new helmet.

JB and Rumae are getting Baptized either this Saturday and confirmed this Sunday, or this Sunday and getting confirmed in 3 weeks, since next Sunday we won't be having church.  I love being out here, and have learned soooo much!  I hope, and pray that y'all are doing great, and always drawing closer to the Lord!

Houston, 2nd transfer 1st week.

March 12, 2012

Hey Everybody,

Had another week in the mission… so last Sunday night my comp said he thought I was going to be training. I doubted it, but it scared me. Sure enough we didn't get transferred, neither of us. But my district changed alot, and my zone changed alot.

We didn't seem to do a lot this week, but we had a few key lessons that were really important to our investigators. Oh and Monday night Rumae calls and says, "I don't want to be baptized this Sunday. (my comp is like, oh crap) I want to be baptized now." So I got excited, my streak will continue, but as the week went along, we finished teaching her everything, but she had only been to church once, and in our mission they need to have gone at least 3 times, and so we called our Mission Pres. and he said it was fine with him, just talk to the Bishop.

So we decided we would have Rumae talk to the bishop and see how converted she was and how bad she wanted to get baptized. The Bishop decided she should try to be baptized with her Husband, JB, in two weeks. So we met with JB and talked with him: introduced Temples, and now they really want to be baptized, even JB. But their main goal is the temple, which is so cool! But Sunday when the Bishop met with JB he got the impression JB should wait a few weeks So probably not this next Sunday but the one after that. Ya they are awesome. Yesterday we watched the full-length video of the Restoration (like 63 mins), and they loved it.

Oh and we ran into this couple. The husband used to be in the bishopric, got offended, they decided they didn't believe, and left the church, joined a religion that doesn't believe even that Christ is devine, and they don't pray. It is really sad to see. Satan has them and they don't even know it.

Oh and a story from a few weeks ago that I forgot to tell, I was riding along, and jumped a curb and then looked down, it was night so hard to see far, and saw a 2 foot deep drain. I jumped in, then hit the wall on the other side, and stopped, didn't get hurt at all, but it was scary. Had a really good lesson with these kids from Upland. Quite the week!

Questions this week.

Did you transfer?
nope
Did your companion transfer?
nope
Any changes in your district or zone at all?
Yep, Elder Gardener is training a new comp. Elder Christensen, fresh out of the MTC.  From Utah. They share the car with us, and live in the same complex.  The other companionship in our distric changed too, Elder Kelly stayed, and got a new comp, from Spokane, Washington, so that was cool to talk with him, he has been out 1 or 2 transfers more than me. The Zone changed alot, a new zone leader, idk him yet, and overall our zone changed alot.

How many Elders in your mission? (the blog said 5 went home and 15 came in)
160 missionaries, or something like that, idk about Elders and Sisters though.

What do you do to help retain the new converts?
Vist them, get them the Priesthood, get them involved, deppends the RC.

Do missionaries ever stop by and pick people up or call them before church?
other Missionaries or us?  we stop by if we have a ride coming for them, just to make sure they are ready, and confirm to the ride too.
How often did you eat with members this week?
maybe 4

Do you drive or walk most?
Drive the car, or bike.  the only time we walk is when we park our car or bikes (and lock the bikes up), then walk from door to door, on the street.  then go to the bikes/car and drive away.

How far, as in blocks, do you ride your bike?
on bike days like 10-20 miles.
Do you wear helmets?
I always do.

Is the mission home big enough to house 15 new missionaries?
?  The missionaries don't stay at the mission home...so no, they stay at the APs, and some other missionaries appartments the first night.

Is your apartment warm, cold, or just right?
Deppends, sometimes to hot, somethings to cold, and somethings perfect.

Do you get good fruit there? (Our California strawberries are huge and beautiful red in color.)
At members houses, yes.  I buy Bananas and eat them with Peanut butter.

What was memorable about this week?
We ran into this couple who welcomed us in and told us their story. They were LDS once, the dad was in the bishopric, taught seminary, then had a bad kid, other families put them down because of the kid, and they got affended and thought about their testimony and decided they didn't believe in the chruch anymore.  Now they don't believe in Jesus, well they think he was a good guy but not anything more than a good example.  They don't pray to God anymore, I think they do believe in God though.

Do you know you are the best kid in the whole world? !  ( I hope Britt and Chels don't see this. haha)

Haha, I don't know about the best, but i try my hardest!  I'm the best boy, they are the best daughters!

Houston 1st transfer, week 6

March 5, 2012

Everyone,

Hi! Tuesday we taught 4 lessons, then stopped by to see some people. It was good.

Wednesday we visited some, but not many were home, its really hard to catch people home.

Thursday was busy! We had weekly planning, then went to everyones house and then had Dinner with JB & Rumae Andres, they had great food, and are awesome people! She read the whole BOM and he is going to start now, but he is always busy so I don’t know how much time he will have.

Friday was Zone meeting. It was fun, we learned about the Spirit and it was great. We had zone lunch at the Chinese place called The Great Wall. We setup for a spaghetti dinner, went home and studied. The spaghetti dinner was awesome. There was an auction, and tickets were sold for $5 for dinner. The young women make $2000 for the whole thing for their girls camp.

Saturday was the same, not many people...oh we visited this recent covert, Brand Lacy (we baptized him my first week in).

Sunday was okay, had Adam Salley confirmed, and one investigator came, but no one else did. It was disappointing, and it was Fast Sunday and I was soooo hungry! We had a good lesson after church. This girl, Marissa, is going to be a solid investigator, if she reads the BOM. We had a great dinner that night. Then watched some videos for some study at the apartment. I watched "The Restoration" and if you haven't seen that, look it up and watch it, it is soooo awesome. I felt the spirit so strong!

Then we played some cards and we were talking about transfers and my comp said I think Bleazard is going to be training and I'm leaving...what!?! One transfer and then training!?! I doubt it, but it has happened recently, so maybe. It definitely kept me up last night thinking about that. Anyway, the mission is awesome!!!

Love Elder Bleazard!

Houston week 5

Everyone,
Crazy week, but a great week for the most part. Monday night we had dinner at the Diller’s.
Tuesday we got to go to the temple as a zone. That was awesome; then we had lunch as a zone, at Wendy's. I love Wendy's. I can't remember exactly what else we did Tuesday.
Wednesday we had dinner with the Coopers, we had rolls, potatoes, lots of topping, beans, shredded meat, good stuff. Afterwards we had a lesson with this man named JB Anders. We got there and he had been reading stuff about Joseph Smith from an LDS site. We read with him like 20 internet pages of stuff and discussed them. He is golden, basically baptized...hopefully. Tuesday night we did an exchange with the zone leaders. I went to their area with Elder Angilau. He is AWESOME, taught me so much. I tracked a lot with him.
Then Thursday morning I think I woke up at 6 30, but very possible I didn't, anyway, we basically tracked alllll day.
Friday we had a ton of appointments. We had some great lessons, but some things fell through.
Saturday we taught a little and tracked a little, then had a "Chili Cook Off". We had some good food; lots of cakes and lots of chili. Us 4 missionaries were the judges of the cakes "best looking and best tasting" and the judges of the chili "best tasting, most unique, hottest (which sucked, there were alot of hot chili!), and best no bean". We had some investigators come whose sister just got baptized 3 months earlier. She seemed really interested and motivated to read the Book of Mormon and come to church, but Sunday came and she didn't go; she slept in.
Sunday I GOT TO BAPTIZE ADAM SALLEY! It was the coolest experience!!! 5 weeks in and 5 baptisms, the last being me in the water. and in this transfer 6 Sundays and every week we will have either baptized, and/or confirmed someone. I am truly blessed to be in this ready of an area. After church we had a great lesson with this lady named Bree. Sunday night I went on exchange with my DL and my comp and his comp went and slept at some other missionaries apt. and went to college station. So Elder Gardener and i were stuck with bikes, and no where to email (Mondays the library is closed) and we had to pay to do laundry, so we only did our whites. We had an appointment that night, it went so good! Oh, and I almost crashed on the way there. It was dark and I didn't see this huge drain till like 5 feet before so i jumped 2 feet down into it and hit the 2 feet wall on the other side and stopped, still on my bike. I was so "lucky", meaning, watched over by god and his angels, "blessed". Anyways, the next day we changed back companions and now I finally get to email on Tuesday at 3 30. Have a good one yall! Hope to hear from you, if your family, email me, or write me via postage. if your not family write a quick letter, I would love to hear from yall!
